Monastery Disentis

From Hotel Krüzli you can reach the monastery Disentis either in
10 minutes by car, similarly fast by train or on foot on the beautiful high altitude path along the valley.
The Benedictine abbey in Disentis looks back on a history of over 1,400 years. Extensively renovated, the beautiful church of St. Martin reopened in November 2019.
The gate with the monastery shop is open to visitors every day. Here you can buy, for example, delicacies from the monastery bakery, as well as books and magazines.
Guided tours through the monastery and the museum with its cultural-historical exhibition provide insights into the history of the monastery and its inhabitants (1-1½ hours).

8:30-11:30, 14:00-17:00.
On Sundays the gate is not manned during the service.

Visit and marvel at museums
All year round
It is not only in bad weather that a visit to the museums La Truaisch and La Cristallina is recommended.
Here you can marvel at rock crystals and minerals from local miners, as well as unique specimens from the Gotthard base tunnel.
Something very special in the La Truaisch Museum in Sedrun is the unique find of a milarite - the size and perfection of the shimmering mineral is probably unique in the world.

Rhine spring

All year round
One of the mightiest rivers and busiest waterways in the world has its source in the immediate vicinity of Hotel Krüzli. Set off in search of the origin of the Rhine!
From Krüzli you can reach the Oberalppass in 15 minutes by car. Alternatively: you can take the Matterhorn-Gotthard railway on the route of the Glacier Express. At the top, you start the approx. 1.5-hour hike to the source of the Rhine.

From the hotel you can reach the neighbouring village of Rueras in about half an hour on foot.
Here, farmer, teacher, artist and writer Hubert Venzin rebuilt his former goat shed in 2002: Where goats and hay used to be kept, you can now find the exhibition of his works of art and a shop space.
Perhaps you will discover a fine souvenir, a wonderful acrylic painting or a great sculpture for your home. Hubert's selection of ceramics is animalistic: goats, ibexes, chickens, cats, owls as well as angels, sculptures, bowls and containers are available. Much is created in the special firing technique Raku.
A visit is worthwhile!

For an adventure with colleagues, friends or the whole family, you don't need much: a gold panning pan, a shovel, rubber boots and a little luck!
Under the professional guidance of Priska and Sandro, the tour takes you into the gorges of the Rhine and thus into the region of the largest gold discoveries in Switzerland.
Other treasures of the mountain world such as crystals, minerals and wild herbs can also be found under expert guidance.

Hiking

The mountains and peaks of our surroundings offer wonderful walking and hiking trails - all well maintained and well signposted:
For example, you can take the high-level trail from Sedrun to the monastery in Disentis without any major ascents and descents. Combined with a cable car ride, there are several options for a brisk walk down into the valley. Always with a breathtaking view!
What mountain boots are in summer, snowshoes are in winter - in both cases you can hike under expert and local guidance, for example, because you want to do longer or more demanding routes.

There lay Claus

The idyllic bathing lake "Lag da Claus" is only a 15 minute walk from the hotel.
A bathing paradise with a trampoline in the lake, water games and a raft with which you can cross the lake provide bathing fun. The bistro with terrace directly on the lake offers all kinds of food, snacks and cool drinks.

SkiArena

You can reach the ski slopes and the cable cars of the SkiArena directly from the Hotel Krüzli in Sedrun on foot or by train.
